Pat Flynn Teaches Timeline for Facebook Pages

Posted on 18 March 2012 by sherry

Sweet!  Pat Flynn demystifies the timeline for Facebook pages.  Landing pages are no more for Facebook pages, but true to his tradition of teaching through awesome tutorial videos, Pat walks us through the new features on timeline to help our businesses succeed.

Highlights

Cover Image

851 pixels wide x 315 pixels tall

Cover image rules:

  • No price or purchase info to be included in your cover art
  • No contact info. - No web address - No email address - No phone numbers – etc.
  • No references to other Facebook features such as Like or Share.
  • No calls to action

Thumbnail / Profile Image

125 pixels x 125 pixels square

App Thumbnails

Photos

The Photos app image always displayed first.

The last photo uploaded will display.

Other Apps

Likes, Twitter, YouTube, and other app thumbnails can be moved to your preferred order

You can edit the App Name (Custom Tab Name) and the App Thumbnail (Custom Tab Image).

The app image is 111 pixels wide by 74 pixels tall.

Continuous Flow Images

Visit http://www.SmartPassiveIncome.com/timeline for Pat’s free template for slicing an image for a continuous flow across the cover art, profile image, and app images.

Pinning a Post

Pat shows us how to “pin” a post so it remains static…remains at the top of the timeline even if you add status updates.

Highlighting a Post

Highlighting a post will make it span across the timeline – double wide.

NOTE:  At this time, you cannot highlight and pin the same post.

Milestones

Specifically useful for the timeline, you can add milestones.  Milestones are similar to other posts, but you can “back date” them to the correct spot on the timeline.  You also add a description to a milestone.

You can share the milestone in your Facebook feed or hide the addition so your fans aren’t updated on all the milestones you’re adding as you fill out your timeline.

Pat Flynn VideoTitles, text, and filenames, Oh my!  Pat Flynn’s latest YouTube video offers 5 Mini SEO Tips.  We won’t spoil the content for you, but it’s very much worth watching (17:16).

A blog post on Smart Passive Income will surely follow, but for now, you can access the video directly on YouTube…which you can, in turn, use to link back to the blog.

The tips range from the very quickly implemented tips (the kind that make you want to slap your forehead for not doing them all along) to some more-involved tips (involving a little extra content creation).

They’re all tried and true methods to give you just a little extra SEO juice over your competition.
